Neil McPhillips ACEcD
Neil McPhillips is Director of Starfire Solutions. He has worked with all levels of government and the private sector for more than 30 years. His reputation for networking and sustainable development in businesses and community organisations is well regarded.
His expertise includes economic and business development and attraction. He is recognised for his efforts and success as the Economic Development Manager for Ipswich City Council during a time if that city's rebirth and also Bundaberg and the establishment of Bundaberg Technology Park and many other initiatives.
Neil’s success in both private and public sector comes from his analytical abilities – being able to see, research and develop opportunities. He has an extensive background in research and development, combined with years of involvement in strategic planning and organisational development. Through his keen involvement in many not-for-profit organisations, Neil has achieved considerable success in fund raising and capital investment programs and regional development.
Neil has held positions in public and private companies, to the level of Chief Executive Officer, and has also owned and operated his own successful private companies. He is a very experienced negotiator and facilitator to business and industry and is known for his ability to address issues and achieve results. Neil’s proven success in this field has seen complex deals and outcomes negotiated. Government agencies have also used this experience when dealing with difficult clients and their issues.
Neil is strongly connected to his community. It is through this involvement that he believes he has a good grasp of what communities and consumers desire in products and services. Neil’s commitment to his community is evident in his participation in many community-based organisations and his preparedness to assist regional communities.
Neil is also known for his ability to network at the highest level. His extensive contacts have enabled him to see strategic projects through to completion by negotiating collaborative solutions to complex problems. His commitment to his community is evident in his positions on Community Boards, Public Company Boards, Director of Natural Resource Management organisations and many others. Neil is a Founding Member of Economic Development Australia (EDA) and also an Associate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.

Peta Jamieson - Senior Associate
Peta Jamieson is the Director of Luminous Project Services, a specialty consultancy business established to provide strategic, project, business planning (including organisational design and change management), community consultation, research and corporate/executive service needs (including executive coaching).
Peta has over 20 years at an executive level working for Councils such as the Brisbane City Council, the Local Government Association of Queensland as the peak industry body representing Councils and at a senior level in the Queensland state government.
In mid 2011 Peta Jamieson moved back to the Wide Bay Burnett Region after some 20 years' experience working for Brisbane City Council, the Local Government Association of Queensland as the peak industry body representing Councils and at an executive level in the state government. During this time Peta has successfully led internal and external teams, established and delivered policy, projects and procedures and ensured the achievement of corporate goals within set time frames.
Peta has an innate ability and proven track record to work at an executive strategic level but also deliver operationally.
Since moving to the region Peta has been committed to securing community based work that allows her the ability to achieve an improved work/life balance but also assist local/regional organisations achieve their goals. To support the goal Peta established Luminous Consulting Services and works with a diverse range of organisations including the Wide Bay Burnett Regional Organisation of Councils.

James Corvan
James Corvan is one of Australia’s most experienced regional tourism practitioners having successfully marketed and developed a number of destinations across Australia. James gained widespread tourism experience in his early days working for domestic and international airlines and in the cruise sector.
This experience gave James a great start in the wider tourism sphere and for the past twenty years he has lead the field of destination marketing, development and management. James has managed regional tourism organisations in such diverse locations as Central Australia, Southern Downs, Toowoomba & Golden West and Bundaberg North Burnett and sat as a board member on the Brisbane, Sunshine Coast and Whitsunday regional tourism organisations. He was also Sales and Marketing Manager for Dreamworld and Whitewater World.
His key strengths lie in his ability to build successful partnerships across organisations both public and private and individuals in order to maximise successful outcomes with a minimum of resources. During his time at Tourism Queensland as Executive Director of Marketing he built strong links with industry and partnerships with the state’s regional tourism organisations delivering strong outcomes, record industry investment in cooperative marketing and results. Links with local, state and federal government areas were strengthened and his work was recognised with Tourism Queensland and Main Roads winning a Premiers Award for their efforts to develop and promote the very important drive tourism sector.
James has a good understanding of small business which makes up the bulk of Queensland’s tourism industry. He managed a country hotel for his family’s company and is a director on that company which has now expanded into other interests. He has interests in a niche publishing business. James owns a business which mentors and assists small business, individuals and organisations and provides contract and consultancy services to the tourism industry.
James has been recognised for his service to regional tourism by being only one of two people inducted into the Australian Regional Tourism Network’s Hall of Fame. He is currently a director of Tourism Queensland and Events Queensland.
